Wyomng Project Guardian (Wyoming’s branding of Project Safe Neighborhoods), the Wyoming Association of Sheriffs and Chiefs of Police and the Rocky Mountain Information Network are providing two regional training opportunities on Street Gangs, Gangs in Detention and Correction Facility Settings & Outlaw Motorcycle Gangs (OMGs) during the week of July 11-15, 2011. These courses have been accredited by Wyoming POST for sixteen hours.
These courses are being provided free of charge to Wyoming peace officers, detention officers, corrections officers, probation and parole agents and prosecutors. Lodging will be provided for the night before and the first night of the course offering. We do not anticipate that we will have to limit the number of attendees for each training session; however, we only have a limited number of FREE rooms available – so agencies will be limited to two rooms per district or location (for agencies that have several districts or field offices such as DCI, WDOC. etc.) A continental breakfast will also be provided for all attendees. All other travel and per diem related expenses are the responsibility of the attending officer’s agency.
Lieutenant T. E. Adams of the Wyoming Highway Patrol will provide up-to-date information on Outlaw Motorcycle Gangs; Richard Fowler – Carbon SO and Brice Gallasso – Goshen SO will provide an overview of Prison Gangs and their impacts in the Detention setting; ATF Resident Agent in Charge Mike West will bring an update on gun issues facing law enforcement to the training sessions; Chuck Schoville of RMIN will be providing information on street gangs; and Lin Bashford our Wyoming Field Services Coordinator will demonstrate RISSIntel/RISSGang for those attending the training.
